How Walmart Fulfillment Service Fees Work
WFS charges per unit based on shipping weight and dimensions, plus surcharges for apparel, hazardous materials, items under $10 and oversize items. Standard base fees start at $3.45 per unit. Here's what makes up the number.
Base Fulfillment Fee
Covers packaging, handling and delivery to the customer. Set by shipping weight, starting at $3.45 per unit for 1 lb or less.
Shipping Weight
Items under 1 lb get 0.25 lb added for packaging, then round up. From 1 to 150 lb, Walmart uses the greater of unit weight or dimensional weight (L x W x H in inches / 139).
Surcharges
Apparel and hazardous materials add $0.50 per unit, items priced under $10 add $1, and oversize items add $3 or $20.
Storage
Billed per cubic foot per month: $0.75 most of the year, with an extra $1.50 from October to December for stock held over 30 days.
The calculator estimates these fees automatically from the product details you enter: weight, dimensions, and category. All calculations are estimates since Walmart doesn’t make exact category fee assignments fully transparent, but knowing approximate fees upfront helps you price correctly and avoid unprofitable products.

Walmart's published WFS fees, effective as of April 2025 and subject to change. The calculator uses these to estimate your per-unit cost.

Standard items are up to 150 lb, with the longest side up to 108 inches and longest side plus girth up to 165 inches. Items above those limits are big and bulky: $155 plus $0.80 per lb over 90 lb, up to 500 lb, with no added surcharges. Walmart notes that items of 31 lb and up may take more than 2 days to deliver.

WFS Hazmat Fees
Batteries, aerosols, chemicals and pesticides cost a little more to fulfill through WFS. Here is what Walmart adds.
- Fulfillment: Walmart adds $0.50 per unit to the standard base fee when an item is or contains a chemical, aerosol, pesticide or battery.
- Returns: hazardous materials fees also apply on top of the return processing fee for the item's shipping weight.
- Disposal and removal: Walmart adds $0.50 to the base disposal fee for hazmat items.
- Big and bulky items (over 150 lb, or over the standard size limits) pay the freight fee instead, with no added surcharges.
