When you pack orders yourself, your sales are capped by the hours you can stand at a table, and a busy week means late shipments. A pick and pack warehouse takes that work: your stock sits on our shelves, each order is picked, packed and shipped for you, and you spend the time on sourcing and listing.

What Is Pick and Pack?

Pick and pack is the warehouse work that turns an online order into a shipped parcel: a picker pulls each item on the order from its shelf location, a packer checks it, boxes it and labels it, and the carrier collects it. Pick and pack services hand that whole step to a fulfillment warehouse.

Pick and pack (some sellers say pack and pick) in a warehouse comes down to two jobs. Picking is finding the right item in the right quantity: a picker works from a pick list, either one order at a time or a batch of orders in one walk of the aisles. Packing is getting it to the buyer intact: the right-size box, fill so nothing moves, the packing slip and the shipping label.

Mistakes at either step cost you twice. A wrong item means a return, a replacement and an unhappy buyer; a badly packed one means a damage claim. That is why the steps before picking matter: a pick is only as accurate as the check-in that put the stock on the shelf.

What Are the Steps of Order Fulfillment?

Order fulfillment runs in six steps: receive the inventory, store it in a set shelf location, pick the items on each order, pack and label the parcel, ship it with the carrier, and process any return that comes back. Pick and pack covers the middle of that chain, from the order to the carrier.

  1. 1

    Receive

Send the PO before the truck ships. We check the delivery against it and mark each item sellable or damaged, so you can file supplier claims while the window is still open.

  2. 2

    Store

Checked-in stock goes to its shelf location. When we check stock in, it syncs to your Ecom Circles software automatically.

  3. 3

    Pick

Your Amazon and Walmart orders route from your Ecom Circles dashboard to our warehouse, and we pull each item on the order.

  4. 4

    Pack

We box and label the order. Label processing is included in the 3PL parcel order price.

  5. 5

    Ship

The carrier collects the parcel and tracking syncs back. Amazon and Walmart buy shipping is built in.

  6. 6

    Returns

Customers can return to our warehouse. We inspect each return and restock or dispose of it based on condition.

Returns have their own page: returns management. Products that are sold as a kit or multi-pack are built and labeled first through kitting and bundling.

How Much Does Pick and Pack Cost?

Can a Warehouse Ship My Amazon FBM Orders?

Yes. With FBM (fulfilled by merchant), Amazon leaves shipping to you, and a warehouse can do it for you. At Ecom Circles, your Amazon and Walmart orders route from your Ecom Circles dashboard to our warehouse, we pick, pack and ship them, and tracking syncs back. A single-item FBM order is $3 for 3PL and 2-step dropshipping clients.

FBM keeps the order on your side of Amazon, so the same stock on our shelf can fill your Walmart orders too. For the products you do send into Amazon, our FBA prep service preps and ships them in. Sourcing from suppliers who ship to us first? That is two-step dropshipping. Running FBA and FBM side by side? Our Amazon 3PL service covers both from one warehouse.

3PL clients, where we store your inventory and ship your orders, pay a one-time $650 setup fee. No setup fee for prep, returns and 2-step clients.

Do I need to be near your warehouse?

No. You can sell from anywhere in the US. Have your suppliers ship to our U.S. warehouses in the Chicago area and Atlanta, and run POs, inventory check-ins, orders and charges through your Ecom Circles software.

What is the difference between pick and pack and FBA?

With FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon), your inventory sits in Amazon's fulfillment centers and Amazon ships your Amazon orders. With a pick and pack warehouse, your inventory sits with the warehouse, the order stays FBM, and the warehouse ships it. Many sellers run both: FBA for some products, FBM from a warehouse for the rest.
